The Green Hell Claims Its Victims, Bailey 7th

The most insane, crazy, intense, and famous track was conquered by few on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014, but not without many bumps, bruises, and broken hearts. The Nordschleif has been the most iconic track in motorsports for decades. What better vehicle to celebrate its beauty than the Formula 1 monsters of 1978. A single lap from the best drivers in these beasts takes over six minutes as the driver makes his way through more than 150 corners over the 12.9 mile course.

Due to his pace, Bailey opted not to participate in the 10 minute qualifying session and would start at the back of the field.

"This place is called "The Green Hell" for a reason. I don't want to mop up what left of my car in the case of an incident. During qualifying I just focused on the race ahead." - Bailey

"trying not to hit the walls :o" - Nico Barclay (Featuring Nico Barclay, Ken Tarvin, and Jan Sproule)

Bailey started the pace lap in 15th of the 16 brave competitors. The race started after the closed off entrance to the well known F1 track nearby, Nurbergring. During the very first lap of the 45 minute race there was trouble ahead for Bailey. Luckily Bailey was able to narrowly dodge incidents that were occurring around him. After the first lap the race of the race was quite tame due to the fact that the competitors spread out almost evenly over the 12.9 mile course.

In the final laps of the race Bailey was put under immense pressure as Nikola Simic in 8th place came within 5 seconds of Bailey.

"I was worried. He had podium pace. I decided to run that last lap as fast as I possibly could. My Sunday drive just turned into a sprint." - Bailey

In the end Bailey's pace was only self-serving because N. Simic made a gross error in his fuel calculations, despite having the opportunity to refuel during an unexpected pit stop. N. Simic ran out of fuel with the finish line in sight and received a DNF for his efforts.

Bailey was able to wrap up then end of the surviving field by finished 7th of the 16 that started the race.

The live in-car video may be seen below. Bailey talks quite a bit in this one.

Game Over for Many Minis at "Pinball Alley", Bailey 3rd

"4 THE FANS!!!" - AJ Truax

Lienz GP Short is a track known for its beautiful forest-scape and treacherous down hill section near the end of the lap. Earlier in the week Team Think Again held several practices as they knew that the smallest of track nuances could send your Z Mini flying through the air, with or without your tires. The Z Minis have been a popular choice in the community lately. They are small, darty, and tons of fun.

The race started from a standing start with Bailey qualifying 13th on the grid. There were many other Team Think Again teammates strewn throughout the field with Eric Tupper leading the team effort in third position.

The field makes its way through "Pinball Alley" for the first time. - Lucas O'Neille

The first lap of the race went much better than what was expected through the downhill section of the track known as "Pinball Alley". Throughout the race you could have lost count of the random buts of car pieces and tires strewn around the track. In the final 15 minutes of the 30 minute race Bailey and Mark Carty were entangled in a heated battle for the top positions of the race, dashing and dodging traffic and debris along the way. On the final lap  of the race Carty was able to pass Bailey on the inside at the top of the hill right before entering the single line "Pinball Alley". Carty finished the race in 2nd with Bailey in 3rd. The next race in the series will be at the fast, flowing track of Mosport.

The exciting live feed from Bailey's perspective can be viewed below. This includes the continuous communications of Team Think Again. Please be aware that the content may not be appropriate for all persons. This race was held 04FEB2014.

Bailey Captures First Win In Career!

For the first time in his career Bailey has secured a 1st place victory in an official race. The race was hosted by BoxRaceBrazil, where Bailey races often. Having been consistently finishing in the top 10 in most races this victory was quite new and refreshing.

"I can still remember my very first official race. Back in September of 2012 I raced the BMW 320i at a track in Arizona. I was about 11 seconds off of the pace of the leader, but I was still able to finish the race. Now it looks like I was the leader. It's crazy to think that I achieved a position that I admired so many years ago."

Bailey drove a Ford GT as other in the race chose from an assortment of 24hr GT cars such as the likes of BMW, Corvette, Audi, and other manufacturers. Due to delays the race started an hour later than scheduled and Bailey moved up the grid to start the race in 4th place despite qualifying for 7th.

"I didn't really do anything different this time. I enjoyed the layout of the track and I had a very stable and easy to drive setup for the car. I just kept the car on the track and hoped for the best." -Bailey

For most of the race Bailey remained in 3rd position after one of the competitors spun ahead of him, almost causing a collision. Bailey was able to avoid the spin car by inches. Bailey continued the race, battling 2 other competitors early on.

Knowing that he was in the top 3 Bailey pitted half way through the 40 minute race for fuel. He took a little more than necessary because he said that he did not want to stress out about the amount of fuel he would have near the end of the race.

Twenty minutes later Bailey was the first to cross the finish line and claim victory.

"Ya know, I didn't realize that I was in first until I looked at the results screen. I pitted 2 laps before the guy ahead of me went through the pits. My out lap was fast enough to be able to pas him as he was coming out of the pits later on. From then on I had no idea what position I was in the field. I just drove until it was over." -Bailey

After realizing that he won the race Bailey took a victory lap while waiving at the fans around the track. He then proceed to perform some donuts at the Finish Line. A win well deserved.

The live in-car video of his run can be seen below. The race was held on 03FEB2014.

Highest Finish for Bailey at BoxRaceBrazil

It was a quiet day, 11JAN2014, at Snetterton '64, until the Mustangs rolled through. Characterized by its long straights and sweeping turns, Snetterton '64 is a great track for these Mustangs that always bring excitement in head-to-head battles throughout the field. Bailey abstained from qualifying due to not having the minimum 10 practice laps at the circuit.

"The track is fairly easy to remember. The hairpin at the end of the longest straight is a bit tricky so that's where you can capitalize on other the most." - Bailey

Starting 12th out of 15 competitors Bailey had a good start to the race. In the very first lap of the race Bailey was able to make his way to 7th, but was soon delayed by an collision that blocked part of the track in front of him. Upon nearly finishing the second lap of the race Bailey witnessed a major incident near the Start/Finish line. The vehicle lost control, hit a banking, and then was tossed 20 meters into the air and eventually landing back on the track wight next to Bailey's car.

"Wow" - Bailey

When it came for Bailey's pit stop he was not able to slow down in time due to the driver drafting directly behind him. He went around once more and had to abort this pit entry yet again due to a driver that seemed to have problems controlling his Mustang at the time. Bailey avoided spearing the pit barrier by inches as he swerved to avoid a race ending incident. Fortunately Bailey was able to pit the next time around.

In partial disbelief Bailey finished the race in 2nd place with less than a lap of fuel left in the tank. Bailey also had the most consistent lap times compared to the entire field during the race.

You can watch the live broadcast of the race below. It has been confirmed that Bailey was listening to "The Art of War" during the race and can be attributed to his performance during the race.

Mustangs Run in Argentinian Sunshine at Potrero de los Funes

BoxRaceBrazil hosted the Mustang spec race at Potrero de los Funes on 25JAN2014. At this beautiful track we witnessed a battle between Bailey and a number of other competitors throughout the race. Starting right in the middle of the pack at 9th position Bailey was able to hold off a number of faster drivers as he made his Mustang very “wide” down the straights and in the turns. “I knew that if these guys got by me they would just run away.” -Bailey Due to his pit stop strategy Bailey was able to gain a slight advantage over those who were trying to get past him before the pit stop rotation. The battles lasted all the way to the end of the rave where Bailey finished 6th. After the race we were able to confirm that Bailey was indeed listening to the Live Daytona 24hr Race feed during his drive.

Live coverage of Bailey's race may be viewed below.

Another 5th Place Finish by Bailey after starting 17th

In the second race of the day Bailey was able to finish in 5th position after not qualifying and starting 17th at Silverstone in F1 cars from 1977. Even in the dry weather the cars were beasts to handle as many drivers had a number if incidents.

"There were people in the grass, sideways, backwards, everywhere. But is was not as bad as you might think, just really exciting." -Bailey

The host of the race, BoxRaceBrazil, runs races almost every sings day and usually has more than 20 participants in each race. Today there were 21 who started on the grid. The race started well with Bailey making his way up to the single digit positions within the first two laps. Through some unfortunate mishaps Bailey fell down the ranks after a few spins and an unexpected visit to a sand trap, and nearly flipped over by a competitor.

"I was not familiar with the cars so every corner was a new lesson learned. Luckily most of the lessons were good ones." -Bailey

He eventually made his way up to 5th position after gaining time on the pitstops by not changing tires. Due to the nature of old tires Bailey was under immense pressure by two drivers at once during the final 3 laps of the race. It came down to the last few corners of the race as Andre Queiroz, a known 2 time winner at BoxRaceBrazil, attempted to overtake Bailey in the penultimate corner. Taking a defensive line into the turn it looked as if Bailey lost the rear of the car, but he was able to continue to drift the Formula car through the corner and barely maintain his position in 5th to finish the race.

The race can be viewed below with in-car commentary and babble from Bailey. Please keep in mind that many Brazilians speak Portuguese. You may be fluent by the end of this video.

Bailey Captures 5th @ Monza Despite Pitting for Fuel

Bailey driving the GT1 Aston Martin was able to secure 5th place after an amazing overtake in the final turn complex at Monza during the final lap. I like to feed the engine even under braking sometimes.", Bailey said after the race. Starting the race at a respectable 8th position of 11 in his vehicle class he was able to use his consistency to make his way through the field, passing those who were faster than him.
